Green Lake, Austria

I painted this as a response to a photo taken by a diver in Grüner See (Styria), Austria. It is a highly abstracted and re-imagined version of the original photograph, which shows the surface reflection of a scuba diver. Now scuba diving in the lake is prohibited. Grüner See was only diveable from late spring to mid summer, when snow melt from the karst mountains filled it to a depth of up 12 metres. During winter, the lake is only 1–2 m deep and the area around the lake is used as a county park. The painting is ready to hang.
