This is my abstracted and pared down version of The Hunters in the Snow, also known as The Return of the Hunters, a 1565 oil-on-wood painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. My version shows a simplified view of the left hand part of the painting. This is one of the most famous paintings in the world, familiar to many in Christmas cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst looking at artworks in London I made a note to myself to do a painting using Bruegel’s colour palette for this painting, which is restricted but still incredibly energetic. I couldn’t wait to get in the studio and try it out. I really love this one, hope you do too. It is painted on canvas stretched over an internal wooden frame and is ready to hang.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n
